Partner 1 - Turku University of Applied Sciences, Finland

 

M. Soc. Sc. (econ) Harri Lappalainen

Mr. Lappalainen, team member of the INCODE-project is a well-known expert in Finland in the area of Lifelong Learning. Since 1997 he has worked as a trainer and organizer of intensive training programs in Higher Education and also in adult education and vocational training. He has extensive experience on evaluation in several levels: EU programs, EU projects, educational institutes, EU project proposals as well as individual level assessment. Lappalainen holds a Certificate of Competence-Based Personal Evaluation, acknowledged by the Finnish Psychological Association. In addition to his Master’s degree he has executed 1,5 years University-level “Consultative methods as tools in personnel development” intensive studies. Lappalainen has several years’ experience on working in multicultural environment. At the moment Lappalainen is acting as a Special Adviser in the Innovation pedagogy team in Turku University of Applied Sciences.

 

M. Sc. Sami Lyytinen

Mr. Lyytinen, Lecturer in Sustainable Development, has taken part in developing the innovation peda-gogy in TUAS in 2008-2011. He has been developing the concept of project hatchery and using the concept of research hatchery in linking r&d-projects and teaching in innovative way. He has special expertise in linking his r&d-projects and teaching. He has also skills in statistical analyzing. Sami Lyyt-inen, team member of the INCODE-project, has written two articles on innovation pedagogy by collecting and analyzing data on students' and teachers' opinions on project hatchery.

 

Dr. Sc. Liisa Kairisto-Mertanen

Mrs. Kairisto-Mertanen, Dean, Faculty of Technology, Environment and Business, Turku University of Applied Sciences. Mrs. Kairisto-Mertanen, team member of the INCODE-project, has background in business and especially in sales and product management in the field of information technology. She received M.Sc. in international business in Turku School of Economics year 1975. After positions in enterprises Kone Oy and Oy Philips Ab, she continued her studies in Turku School of Economics and received Dr.Sc. in marketing in 2003. During her university career her special interest have been de-veloping sales education both in the field of business administration as well as in the field of engineering in Finland and also contributing worldwide to the creation of Global Sales Science Institute. Currently she is involved in the development of a new pedagogical approach called innovation pedagogy.

 

Ph.D. Lic. Sc. Taru Penttilä

Mrs. Penttilä, principal lecturer in marketing in Turku University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Tech-nology, Environment and Business, team member of the INCODE-project. She received her Master's degree in international marketing in University of Åbo Akademi in 1991 and Licentiate's degree in in-ternational business in Turku School of Economics in 2002. She has experience as a researcher and a project coordinator in several international and national R&D projects as well as in educational and pedagogical development projects. She has also contributed especially to the research field of envi-ronmental business and currently to the development of innovation pedagogical research. She has a long experience in curriculum development work, acting nowadays as a leader in curriculum develop-ment group of the faculty.

 

Jussi Riihiranta (BA)

Mr. Jussi Riihiranta, the Coordinator of INCODE has 13 years’ experience in project management and financial administration of various national and international R&D projects, co-funded by such EU funding programmes as Asia-Link, Erasmus, Interreg III and IV, ERDF and ESF. He is also a trainer and consultant in project management and has been an active member in such international networks as PROTON, METNET, PINNET etc., and has also participated in several project management courses organized by e.g. EARMA, Hyperion and Singleimage.

M.A. Ralf Behrens

Mr. Behrens, team member of the INCODE-project is the Head of the International Office in UAS Hamburg. He is expert on technology transfer. He has several years’ experience in the execution of projects. Since 2009 he has been involved in the coordination and management of international projects in the field of renewable energy.

 

M.A. Christiane Deneke

Mrs. Christiane Deneke, team member of the INCODE-project is Professor and Head of the Centre for Life Long Learning in HAW Hamburg. She has extensive experience in the management of education projects. At the moment she is deputy head of the national education project on Lifelong Learning at University of Applied Sciences Hamburg. She is interested in promoting transnational scientific ex-change programs in the field of health sciences.

 

Dipl. Psych. Helmut Helker

Mr. Helmut Helker, team member of the INCODE-project works now as a lecturer at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and the Shanghai-Hamburg-College of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. From 2007 to 2013 he was Interim Professor for Adult Education and Meth-ods of Counseling at the HUAS Faculty of Life Sciences. His disciplinary background is in Social Psychology and Counseling. He is especially interested in academic instruction and learning method-ology.

 

Dr. Helmut Laberenz

Mr. Helmut Laberenz, team member of the INCODE-project is Vice-President of the Hamburg Univer-sity of Applied Sciences. His disciplinary background is economics and psychology. In 1979 he re-ceived Dipl.Kaufmann in Economics and in 1987 in Psychology and worked in different positions in enterprises, i.e. Otto-Group Hamburg. He worked over 12 years as lecturer, senior lecturer and dean at the German Academy for Employees and received Dr. rer. pol. in Psychology at Hamburg University in 1987. Since 1992 he is professor for home economics and nutrition at University of Applied Sciences Hamburg. He is especially interested in the connection of research and new teaching and learning methodologies. He has 50 publications (including 6 books) on different subjects.

 

Dr. Christiane Stange

Mrs. Christiane Stange, team member of the INCODE-project works as lecturer and researcher in curriculum development at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. She has a disciplinary back-ground in Philosophy and Biology and received Dr. phil. in Philosophy in 2000. She worked in several projects in the field of curriculum development and Educational Research. She is especially interested in the philosophical analysis of interdisciplinary problems in the field of Higher Education.

Emiel Billiet (M. Sc.)

Mr. Billiet, team member of the INCODE-project was consultant (1995) in an European company (Campine) for the introduction of KAIZEN, the principles of continuous improvement and total quality management and obtained several certificates linked to training and education in the field of total quality management and training for quality auditor. Since 1985 has been lecturing in KdG mechanics, mechanical measurements and total quality management and has been presenting papers and presentations at several international conferences related to Quality Management. Since 2002 he became together with Erwin Smet the Total Quality Management coordinator of the faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology.He has been member of the panel of experts which evaluated Croatian polytechnics and schools of professional higher education (polytechnic of Velika Gorica, polytechnic of Rijeka, 2009) and member of the panel of experts which evaluate the faculty of mechanical engineering of the University of Pristina in Kosovo (2009). Right now he is together with Erwin Smet the internal quality evaluator in the CoNeT project and coordinator of a system of feedback and improvement projects in the sustainable CarEcology program that KdG implemented.

 

Sofie Krol (M. Sc.)

Mrs. Krol, team member of the INCODE-project, is the international coordinator in the department of Industrial Sciences since September 2001. She participated in the training course “Survival Kit for European Project Management” in Hull (UK) in October 2002. She was project assistant in the Minerva project LINK and project coordinator in the Minerva project LABLINK (virtual and tele labs) and partner in the CD-project “German for engineers”. In 2004, 2005, 2006 she submitted and coordinated the IP “New Fuels and Drive Systems in Vehicles”. She has been giving support to Radom Technical University (2007), AGH (2010) and TEI of Thessaloniki (2010), when they were submitting an Intensive Program. All applications were successful. Since 2008 she is also cooperating with ISEP, Porto in the frame of the IP “Materials energy and sustainable growth”. Between October 2006 and September 2009 she was coordinating a CD project “Car Ecology”, a Master in Automotive Engineering. Since October 2009 she is coordinating CoNeT.

 

Prof. Dr. Rudi Penne

Mr. Penne, team member of the INCODE-project, graduated in 1986 at the University of Antwerp in Mathematics and obtained his PhD in 1992. He started working in KdG in 1994 and has been lecturing and doing research in calculus, geometry, statistics, Matlab. He is also working as guest professor (UA): computational geometry, projective geometry since 1994.

 

Erwin Smet (M. Sc.)

Mr. Smet, team member of the INCODE-project, is a consultant in different European companies for the introduction of KAIZEN, principles of continuous improvement and total quality management (e.g. Pauwels Trafo, Hydro Agri Sluiskil, Campine). In KdG he has been lecturing robotics, mechanical sus-tainable design and total quality management since 1986. Since 2002 he became together with Emiel Billiet the Total Quality Management coordinator of the faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology. He was member of the panel of experts for the evaluation of the Polytechnic of Karlovac (Croatia, 2009) and member of the expert pool of European Quality Assurance Network for Informatics Educa-tion (EQANIE). Right now he is the internal quality evaluator in the CoNeT project and coordinator of a system of feedback and improvement projects in the sustainable CarEcology program that KdG implemented.

 

Prof. Dr. ir. Jan Trommelmans

Mr. Trommelmans, team member of the INCODE-project, graduated in 1976 at the University of Ghent, as Civil Engineer in Electromechanics and obtained his PhD in 1986 at the University of Leuven. After a career in Industry, he became professor at the Karel de Grote-University College, Antwerp of which he became rector from 2005 until 2010. At this moment Prof. Dr. Ir. Trommelmans is profes-sor in Electricity and on the other hand constructing an innovating teaching platform: “The Company”, where students from different fields of study and different years in the study curriculum will work together in a creative self-supporting company.

 

Prof. ir. Jef de Wachter

Mr. De Wachter, team member of the INCODE-project, graduated in 1974 at the University of Leuven as Civil Engineer in Electromechanics.After two years of civil service in Algeria, he became professor at the Karel de Grote-University Col-lege, Antwerp, where he actually is head of the Master’s Program in Electromechanics.Although his field of study is Eletromechanics, he is constantly involved in new teaching methodolo-gies and competence based learning. He was once nominated and once won the University’s “Frank-Swaelen-award” for Excellence in Education.

Ph.D. Mª Ángeles Andreu-Andrés

Mrs. Andreu-Andrés, team member of the INCODE-project is a Senior Lecturer at UPV in languages for Specific Purposes since 1992. She is a member of the research group DIAAL and the innovation groups IEMA and GIMA where she has undertaken research in different projects dealing with active learning and assessment in higher education. She co-edited GIMAS’s book on active learning meth-odology, Metodologías Activas, which is her major field of interest, and has published on active learning and assessment in leading academic journals.

 

Lourdes Aznar-Mas

Mrs. Aznar-Mas, team member of the INCODE-project is a lecturer in English Language for civil engi-neering students, School of Civil Engineering at UPV, since 1986. She is a member of the Department of Applied Linguistics and the research groups IEMA (Innovation in Assessment for Enhanced Active Learning) and DI-AAL (Intercultural Dimension and Active Language Learning), where she has been involved in projects financed by both national and regional government funds. Her main research areas are assessment and active methodology in language learning in higher education. She has a number of publications in conference proceedings in related areas.

 

Ph.D. Amparo Fernández March

Ph.D. in Educational Sciences, Division Head of Teacher Training, Institute of Educational Sciences at UPV. Mrs. Fernández March, team member of the INCODE-project is also a Lecturer at the University of Valencia. Her main areas of research are: university teaching, innovation in education, university-level teacher training, teaching quality, the process of teaching and learning at university level.

 

Ph.D. Amparo García Carbonell

Mrs. García Carbonell, team member of the INCODE-project, is a Senior Lecturer at UPV and member of the Department of Applied Linguistics. Since 1992, she has used simulation and gaming as an educational and research strategy, and has participated in the te1ematic simulations IDEALS and ICONS and as partner. She collaborated in the design and development of the European project IDEELS. She is a member of the steering committee of the International Simulation and Gaming Association (ISAGA). She co-organized the XXVI ISAGA Conference he1d at the UPV in 1995 and coedited the proceedings Simulation Now! Simulación ¡ya! (1996). She is the leader of the research group DIAAL (Intercultural Dimension and Active Language Learning and is a member of lEMA (Innovation in Assessment for Enhanced Active Learning). She coedited IEMA’s book “La evaluación compartida: investigación multidisciplinary”, 2006.

 

Ph.D. Fernando González-Ladrón-de-Guevara

Mr. González-Ladrón-de-Guevara, team member of the INCODE-project, is a Senior Lecturer in In-formation Systems and Management, since 2003 at UPV. Former freelance consultant, writer and secondary school teacher, he has given conferences in Great Britain, Ireland, Germany and South America (Colombia, Peru, Brazil and Bolivia). A member of the ITIO research group (Integration of Information Technology in Organizations) and IEMA, he has participated in 27 research projects and contracts, in 7 as principal investigator. He has published 23 papers, 11 books, 10 chapters of books with 75 conference participations about the application of information systems in organizations (ERP, organizational learning, e-learning and crowd-sourcing).


Ph.D. Juan A. Marin-García

Mr. Marin-García, team member of the INCODE-project, has been working as Senior Lecturer in man-agement, teamwork and human resources management since 1994 at the UPV. In these areas, he has also worked as a consultant for companies in Spain and El Salvador. He is a founding member (and currently leader of the three) of Research Groups ROGLE, IEMA and i-GRHUP where he has carried out activities in more than 15 projects (funded by both national and European institutions as well as contracts with entrepreneurial clusters). His main research areas are participative management, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing systems, performance evaluation and active learning in higher education. In these fields he has published more than 40 papers in leading academic journals.

 

Ph.D. Begoña Montero

Mrs. Montero, team member of the INCODE-project, is a Senior Lecturer at UPV. Her areas of inter-ests are the application of new technologies to language teaching and the linguistic characteristics of scientific discourse and its assessment. As well as textbooks and material design for academic pur-poses, her publications and international conference presentations have addressed classroom innovations and new technologies applied to language teaching and comparative discourse analysis.

 

Ph.D. Javier Orozco-Messana

Mr. Orozco-Messana, team member of the INCODE-project, is a Lecturer in Materials Science, ceram-ics and several scientific topics at UPV since 1986. He has also lectured at Florida State University. He has been Research & Development manager in several private companies (AIMME, Lladro, Auto-cares Luz) from 1990 to 2004. He has been responsible for more than 5 research projects at the European, national and regional level with an overall budget of over 3 million euros. For 6 years he was secretary of the Valencian Association of Industrial Engineers and is currently Director for International Affairs at UPV where he is responsible for the coordination of several Eramus Mundus Consortiums, in addition to his academic responsibilities. His main research fields are photovoltaic materials, fiber reinforced concrete, performance evaluation and active learning in higher education.

 

Ph.D. María José Pérez-Peñalver

Mrs. Pérez-Peñalver, team member of the INCODE-project is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics since 1995 at UPV. She is a member of the research group in Topology and its applications of the IUMPA and has been editor of the journal Applied General Topology. She has published a number of papers in international academic journals and conference proceedings. She has worked in 5 national funded research projects. She is a founding member of IEMA and her main research fields are performance evaluation and active learning in higher education, models for collaborative networks based on reputation and trust and models for the management of uncertainty and complexity.

 

Ph.D. Frances Watts

Mrs. Watts, team member of the INCODE-project is a Senior Lecturer at UPV. She has been actively involved in network simulation since 1992-1993 with Project IDEALS, ICONS and as partner in the European IDEELS. Co-organizer with Amparo García-Carbonell of the 26th annual ISAGA conference held at the UPV, Spain, in 1995. Co-editor of the conference proceedings, Simulation now! and of the book “La evaluación compartida: investigación multi-disciplinar”, in 2006, also with Amparo García-Carbonell, as the result of the research carried out by IEMA (Innovation in Assessment for Enhanced Active Learning), of which she is the former coordinator. Her research interests include language testing and learning strategies and styles.

Trommelmans is profes-sor in Electricity and on the other hand constructing an innovating teaching platform: “The Company”, where students from different fields of study and different years in the study curriculum will work together in a creative self-supporting company.

 

Prof. ir. Jef de Wachter

Mr. De Wachter, team member of the INCODE-project, graduated in 1974 at the University of Leuven as Civil Engineer in Electromechanics.After two years of civil service in Algeria, he became professor at the Karel de Grote-University Col-lege, Antwerp, where he actually is head of the Master’s Program in Electromechanics.Although his field of study is Eletromechanics, he is constantly involved in new teaching methodolo-gies and competence based learning. He was once nominated and once won the University’s “Frank-Swaelen-award” for Excellence in Education.

Ph.D. Mª Ángeles Andreu-Andrés

Mrs. Andreu-Andrés, team member of the INCODE-project is a Senior Lecturer at UPV in languages for Specific Purposes since 1992. She is a member of the research group DIAAL and the innovation groups IEMA and GIMA where she has undertaken research in different projects dealing with active learning and assessment in higher education. She co-edited GIMAS’s book on active learning meth-odology, Metodologías Activas, which is her major field of interest, and has published on active learning and assessment in leading academic journals.

 

Lourdes Aznar-Mas

Mrs. Aznar-Mas, team member of the INCODE-project is a lecturer in English Language for civil engi-neering students, School of Civil Engineering at UPV, since 1986. She is a member of the Department of Applied Linguistics and the research groups IEMA (Innovation in Assessment for Enhanced Active Learning) and DI-AAL (Intercultural Dimension and Active Language Learning), where she has been involved in projects financed by both national and regional government funds. Her main research areas are assessment and active methodology in language learning in higher education. She has a number of publications in conference proceedings in related areas.

 

Ph.D. Amparo Fernández March

Ph.D. in Educational Sciences, Division Head of Teacher Training, Institute of Educational Sciences at UPV. Mrs. Fernández March, team member of the INCODE-project is also a Lecturer at the University of Valencia. Her main areas of research are: university teaching, innovation in education, university-level teacher training, teaching quality, the process of teaching and learning at university level.

 

Ph.D. Amparo García Carbonell

Mrs. García Carbonell, team member of the INCODE-project, is a Senior Lecturer at UPV and member of the Department of Applied Linguistics. Since 1992, she has used simulation and gaming as an educational and research strategy, and has participated in the te1ematic simulations IDEALS and ICONS and as partner. She collaborated in the design and development of the European project IDEELS. She is a member of the steering committee of the International Simulation and Gaming Association (ISAGA). She co-organized the XXVI ISAGA Conference he1d at the UPV in 1995 and coedited the proceedings Simulation Now! Simulación ¡ya! (1996). She is the leader of the research group DIAAL (Intercultural Dimension and Active Language Learning and is a member of lEMA (Innovation in Assessment for Enhanced Active Learning). She coedited IEMA’s book “La evaluación compartida: investigación multidisciplinary”, 2006.

 

Ph.D. Fernando González-Ladrón-de-Guevara

Mr. González-Ladrón-de-Guevara, team member of the INCODE-project, is a Senior Lecturer in In-formation Systems and Management, since 2003 at UPV. Former freelance consultant, writer and secondary school teacher, he has given conferences in Great Britain, Ireland, Germany and South America (Colombia, Peru, Brazil and Bolivia). A member of the ITIO research group (Integration of Information Technology in Organizations) and IEMA, he has participated in 27 research projects and contracts, in 7 as principal investigator. He has published 23 papers, 11 books, 10 chapters of books with 75 conference participations about the application of information systems in organizations (ERP, organizational learning, e-learning and crowd-sourcing).


Ph.D. Juan A. Marin-García

Mr. Marin-García, team member of the INCODE-project, has been working as Senior Lecturer in man-agement, teamwork and human resources management since 1994 at the UPV. In these areas, he has also worked as a consultant for companies in Spain and El Salvador. He is a founding member (and currently leader of the three) of Research Groups ROGLE, IEMA and i-GRHUP where he has carried out activities in more than 15 projects (funded by both national and European institutions as well as contracts with entrepreneurial clusters). His main research areas are participative management, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing systems, performance evaluation and active learning in higher education. In these fields he has published more than 40 papers in leading academic journals.

 

Ph.D. Begoña Montero

Mrs. Montero, team member of the INCODE-project, is a Senior Lecturer at UPV. Her areas of inter-ests are the application of new technologies to language teaching and the linguistic characteristics of scientific discourse and its assessment. As well as textbooks and material design for academic pur-poses, her publications and international conference presentations have addressed classroom innovations and new technologies applied to language teaching and comparative discourse analysis.

 

Ph.D. Javier Orozco-Messana

Mr. Orozco-Messana, team member of the INCODE-project, is a Lecturer in Materials Science, ceram-ics and several scientific topics at UPV since 1986. He has also lectured at Florida State University. He has been Research & Development manager in several private companies (AIMME, Lladro, Auto-cares Luz) from 1990 to 2004. He has been responsible for more than 5 research projects at the European, national and regional level with an overall budget of over 3 million euros. For 6 years he was secretary of the Valencian Association of Industrial Engineers and is currently Director for International Affairs at UPV where he is responsible for the coordination of several Eramus Mundus Consortiums, in addition to his academic responsibilities. His main research fields are photovoltaic materials, fiber reinforced concrete, performance evaluation and active learning in higher education.

 

Ph.D. María José Pérez-Peñalver

Mrs. Pérez-Peñalver, team member of the INCODE-project is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics since 1995 at UPV. She is a member of the research group in Topology and its applications of the IUMPA and has been editor of the journal Applied General Topology. She has published a number of papers in international academic journals and conference proceedings. She has worked in 5 national funded research projects. She is a founding member of IEMA and her main research fields are performance evaluation and active learning in higher education, models for collaborative networks based on reputation and trust and models for the management of uncertainty and complexity.

 

Ph.D. Frances Watts

Mrs. Watts, team member of the INCODE-project is a Senior Lecturer at UPV. She has been actively involved in network simulation since 1992-1993 with Project IDEALS, ICONS and as partner in the European IDEELS. Co-organizer with Amparo García-Carbonell of the 26th annual ISAGA conference held at the UPV, Spain, in 1995. Co-editor of the conference proceedings, Simulation now! and of the book “La evaluación compartida: investigación multi-disciplinar”, in 2006, also with Amparo García-Carbonell, as the result of the research carried out by IEMA (Innovation in Assessment for Enhanced Active Learning), of which she is the former coordinator. Her research interests include language testing and learning strategies and styles.
